System Requirements
Client
For the client, LZadmin generates XML and Javascript code which is then compiled by the Laszlo Systems compiler into Macromedia Flash bytecodes. When a user accesses the LZadmin application URL these are run in a Flash plugin under the control of a web browser.
LZadmin is built using the Laszlo Presentation Server which requires the use of a Flash 6 or later plug-in (or ActiveX control). New Flash players will generally support older byte codes so any player after Flash 6 should work.
LZadmin has been tested with Internet Explorer version 6 on the PC.
There are known problems using Safari and Firefox on the Macintosh during RPC processing which will be addressed in a later release.
Laszlo Presentation Server
LZadmin has been tested with LPS 3.1.1, 3.2 and 3.3.
Ruby on Rails
LZadmin has been tested with Ruby 1.8.4 and Rails 1.1.2, 1.1.6 and 1.2.2.
Databases
LZadmin has been tested with MySQL 4.1 and 5.0.
In theory, LZadmin should work with any database fully supported by Rails, although this needs to be verified through testing. Rails currently supports the following databases:
- DB2
- Firebird
- FrontBase
- MySQL
- Openbase
- Oracle
- Postgres
- SQLite
- SQL Server
- Sybase
